Home Design Trends 2024 | What’s on the rise in Avalon

13 February 2024

As 2024 has kicked off in the Northern Beaches real estate market, certain revitalizing home design trends are emerging that sellers should consider when preparing their property to maximize appeal and sale price.

In my 18 years listing and selling homes across the region’s most prestigious beachside neighbourhoods, I’ve seen firsthand how strategic renovations influenced by current home design styles translate to top dollar sales.

For those updating, renovating or selling this year, here are three key home design trends on the rise in the Northern Beaches:

Soothing Colour Inspiration for 2024

Colour selection deeply impacts mood and ambiance with interiors. As we Northern Beaches homeowners continue seeking spaces emulating the calming, restorative power of our iconic natural backdrop, Dulux predicts layered, warmer organic hues as well as a richer global colour influence growing in popularity for 2024.

Specifically, their “Solstice” palette enriches spaces through pairing strong desert tones like terracotta with lighter neutrals and aqua pops. The combo cocoons while uplifting mood and outlook simultaneously.

Additionally, their “Journey” palette reveals a turn toward dimensional mid-tones like amber, indigo and jade green coupled with globally inspired artifacts and intricately layered patterns. The effect feels bohemian yet luxe.

Finally their “Muse” profile modernizes 1970s design icons through saturated shades of primrose yellow, blush pink and inky blues converging with shiny accents. A nod to the era’s carefree whimsy and flair.

The overarching effect – interiors tuned to our vibrant, cultured backyard with a dash of glamour.

Textural Layers Trending for 2024 in Avalon Beach

Texture brings life through visual and physical depth and 2024 embraces even more complex, animated textural mixes trending toward the organic and handcrafted.

Plaster meets reclaimed wood or oxidized metals share space with nubby linens, knotted macramé and intricate stone for Avalon Beach interiors exuding collected charm.

As designers gravitate toward more authentic, eco-inspired choices with patina like ceramic, timber and woven textiles exhibiting natural imperfections, the effect both grounds and enlivens.

Distressed oaks, pitted leathers, hand-thrown ceramics and antique regional artifacts also embrace cultural heritage and storied craftsmanship with unique imperfections.

Overall, embracing the textural details, matte finishes and skilfully weathered accents prevalent in our coastal landscape leads to warmer, artisanal and individualistic interiors with depth and soul.

Euro-inspired Themes Rise in Avalon Beach

As we continue developing our local culture and cravings for selective luxury within our laidback surrounds, 2024 predicts Mediterranean influences rising fittingly across spaces in Coastal Avalon Beach and surrounds.

Drawing from ornate Italian and Greek architecture, rich details create atmosphere through tactile finishes like intricately veined marble, hand-painted murals, elegant gilded accents and statement light fixtures.

Sleek symmetrical forms and curved organic seating also continue taking shape inspired by Greco-Roman and modern traditions.
