Today we are celebrating our longest standing employee Mark Connor, who is celebrating 30 years at Cunninghams! What an incredible career so far.
Back in 1992, when Mark was 24, he engaged John and Ann Cunningham to sell a property for him, followed by another one in 1993. Following these successful sales, Mark and John had a chance meeting in the street where Mark mentioned his plans to move jobs into the maritime industry. On the spot, John offered Mark a job at Cunninghams to join himself and Ann in the sales team. In these early years, the entire Cunninghams team consisted of John, Ann, a Receptionist and a Property Manager.
Mark and John have always had a wonderful working relationship based on friendship and trust which has served them both well. Mark recalls that John has always had a pioneer mindset when it comes to helping clients with their real estate ventures, always wanting to stay a step ahead of the rest by being innovative and basically, just doing things better than his competitors. As recalled by Mark, John would draw his own floorplans for his clients so buyers could clearly see the property layout before visiting. Mark and John also used to have their photos developed from film and laminate them to stick on the corflute signboards so buyers could see more of a property – an early example of John’s obsession with photography and helping buyers emotionally engage with property.
Having weathered many different markets over the last 30 years, Mark has built a large client base across the Northern Beaches. His commitment to excellence, regardless of market conditions, has earned him a deeply loyal clientele who bring him a large amount of repeat and referral business. In fact, some of these clients were tenants that Mark helped back when he was involved in Property Management, they would not deal with anyone else as Mark always treated them with such respect. John recalls the consistent positive feedback on Mark from his clients over the years and apart from the words honesty, knowledge and helpfulness, he distinctly remembers the word “honourable” mentioned by many, and that really sums Mark up.
In 2014, Mark joined forces with Kylie Mounsey and together they have forged an incredible partnership, working together and to their strengths to consistently deliver exceptional results for their clients.
Mark credits his long career at Cunninghams with the wonderful people he has worked with, and of course his wonderful clients over the years.
